We invite you to join TLWA.

TLWA is dedicated to protecting and preserving the beautiful lakes that surround Three Lakes for their enjoyment today and for future generations.

Why should you become a TLWA member?

  • Protect our lakes from Aquatic Invasive Species, including:  Eurasian Water Milfoil, Curly Leaf Pondweed, Purple Loosestrife and Yellow Iris which could have devastating effects on the health of the lakes and our ability to enjoy them.
  • Protect our property values.  Property values in the Northwoods are directly related to the quality of our lakes.  If we are not vigilant stewards of these natural resources, the attraction of our lakes will suffer.
  • TLWA works continuously for the interests of all lake property owners, boating and fishing enthusiasts and for the economic interests of Three Lakes businesses that rely on our lakes to attract residents and visitors alike.

Support TLWA Programs

  • Clean Boats - Clean Waters ... The first line of defense for preventing Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) from entering our lakes.  Volunteers and summer interns invest more than 1,800 hours at major boat launches checking to ensure that visitor boats and trailers are clean before being launched into our waters.
  • Adopt-A-Shoreline ... Shoreline monitoring to discover new infestations of Invasive Species.  Early detection of AIS leads to a significantly higher likelihood of successful treatment.  112 volunteers invest close to 1,100 hours monitoring our 109 miles of shoreline.
  • Lake Management Planning … Is the foundation for all TLWA initiatives.  Studies of each lake’s aquatic ecosystems have been made by a professional limnologist, lake planning and management organization to determine overall health and whether any unique problems need to be addressed.  Long-term Lake Management Plans have been developed from these data.
  • Other things TLWA Does ...

- Education programs about AIS and lake stewardship
- Spring & Fall Newsletters for members
- Website and Facebook for news about TLWA initiatives
- Business Member Directory to encourage buying local
- Lighted navigational buoys
- Turtle road-crossing signage
- And much more
